Living just north of Siberia like we do in Central New York I have learned something tonight... When you put your car in the garage for the winter because you don't want to drive it up the unpaved / gravel road up the side of the hill since it doesn't have four wheel drive... make sure you go run the car for a bit each week so you don't drain the battery completely down...
An hour and a half in the ice cold outside futzing with it because it would NOT turn over. (It finally did... but still...)
Whether writers record memory, or transform it, or lie about it, is another question.
Helen Dunmore
Memory is the way we keep telling ourselves our stories - and telling other people a somewhat different version of our stories.
